Company History
The Lyon Mountain Company is the culmination of the many ideas of many
people. It is a combination and changing of several other entities.
In 1992 Daniel Cayea and Brad La Bombard conceptualized the idea of taping shows
on the air for people whom did not have time or did not have the equipment to do
so. In 1992 they began offering a school-to-school program that allowed
students to get items from the other school store that was not normally
available in their own. In 1995 with the release of Microsoft Windows 95
they began focusing on teaching people the power of personal computers and
computer gaming. They even offered to users small utilities to help them
navigate programs and documents on floppy disks.
To distinguish each phase and change the name of the group of people who
provided the service changed over the years. In 1992 the name of "Cayea-La
Bombard Audio Visuals" was chosen as a simple description of what we were doing.
In late 92' Ben Munn joined us with the idea of school-to-school store product
exchanging, and outside of the academic environment the name of "Cayea-La
Bombard-Munn Audio Visuals & Supplies was the next iteration. This
continued until mid 1994 when Ben needed to focus his attention more to
academics and left the group. In 1995 with the help of Phil Armstrong,
Paul & Sean Reich, and the creation of the Northern Adirondack Computer Club,
the name was changed to "The Computer Experiences Company" since the number of
people who were requesting us to tape on air shows for them were dwindling we
focused on computer software and gaming. In early 96' the name changed to
"Telecom Technologies & Newell Software" to accommodate some social changes with
the group.
In late 1997 after much debate it was decided that a name be chosen that was
not dependent on a field of service or products. Since 1998 the name "The
Lyon Mountain Company" was the name used for all activities of the group.
In 2001 the name was officially registered in the Clinton County Clerk's Office
of Plattsburgh, New York as a DBA for Daniel Cayea who is the proprietor and one
of the head leaders of the original group.
